Events

Green Miami Events helps connect companies, families, and local parks through environmental projects that make a real difference. We focus on simple actions that build long term impact, like planting native trees, restoring small habitats, and bringing communities together to learn about nature. Our mission is to grow projects that improve public spaces and inspire the next generation to care for their environment.

SEEDS OF COMMUNITY

Seeds of Community is a relaxed, family friendly preview of the new Educational Garden coming to Enchanted Forest. We’ll share the vision behind this living classroom, introduce some of the native plants that will be part of it, and give kids and families a chance to see what planting and caring for nature looks like up close. It’s a simple kickoff meant to spark curiosity, build excitement, and bring neighbors, local businesses, and city partners together before we begin the full garden in the new year.

Seeds of Community: Butterfly Educational Garden Kickoff

On Sunday, November 23, Green Miami Events hosted the Seeds of Community kickoff at Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park in North Miami. Volunteers and park staff spent the morning walking the site, clearing paths, and talking through the vision for a Butterfly Educational Garden that will use native edible and medicinal plants to teach both children and adults.

The group worked together to reopen trails, move logs, and outline natural borders with existing materials, setting the stage for future “nature play” elements like stump jumps, quiet corners, and an eventual ADA friendly crossing over the gully. Throughout the day, photos and testimonials were captured to document the space and begin shaping the educational story that will guide future plant selection, signage, and programming.

At the center of the concept is the Florida Thatch Palm already growing on site, which will serve as an anchor species for the garden. With guidance from Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon North Miami Park, future phases will add approved native plants, ethnobotanical profiles, and learning zones that help families, volunteers, and visitors understand how local plants support pollinators, wildlife, and everyday life in South Florida.
